Christmas Cards for Sofia's House

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share a bunch of Christmas cards with you ... I volunteered to make some cards for a fundraiser ... I made the so called kits for each card and friends and volunteers as well as the girls from Sofia's House both cut the paper to the right size and assembled the cards together. I thank both my husband and my good friend Carol for helping out with cutting and punching :) You two are a blessing to me.
They were able to make 485 cards total. Some of the cards had 15 each and some of them had 20 each.

I was actually looking for a good pad of paper ... and I have plenty over the years as a teacher ... so I came across this one, but the cover and back was so old and worn, so I decided to decorate it ... I may be making some of these for gifts as well ... have to find some more of these little fat notebooks first :) or at least something similar :)

Hi everyone, thank you all for being patient with me ... it has been awhile again since I have posted my cards. Thank you for your interest and encouraging me to keep on keeping on.

Here are some of the fall cards that I did for a class that I had ...

As I had a second class this month ... I used the same card designs, but didn't have enough papwer ... dsp to do the same as above so had to make some changes in colors etc.

Now, here is the most interesting part ... all the gals who took this class are long time card makers and a couple of them enjoy taking my design and making the card the way they want ... so I want to show you the cards they made:

These next four were redesigned from my scarecrow card ...

On this card, the young lady even chose to use the back side of the dsp ... and totally styled it her own way ... neat huh?

Again cards are going wrong direction, but you can see how the ladies made changes in my card design ... way to go gals!!! :)

Summer Fun

Well, it has been several months since I have put anything on my card blog. These cards I did just recently. I plan to be back up and running once again as September rolls around. So plan on stopping by and see what I have come up with. I should have cards up here once a month, once again.

I do not plan on giving out a bunch of details on these ... but will give you some general information.

This particular card, I found really fun to do ... it was a first for me. I used versamark on pretty in pink paper to put the butterflies on, then used clr EP and heated it. Then took a brayer and inked up the background to go with the old olive card stock and then wiped the ink off of the butterflies.
The center butterfly is also embossed with clr EP. All of the beads are from years ago when I used to collect beads to put on photo frames :) I had a hard time with this one to find the right medium that would hold the beads on. I found that both the 2 way glue pen from SU worked pretty good for beads in center and on butterfly, but the ones around the edges I ended up using half length of the double sided red tape. That was quite the trial.

These next two cards are another technique of which I have never tried before. On these two cards, I versa marked the whole front of the bkgrd - gold EP - heat dry - afterwards took it through an embossing folder - then I took a sanding block to it to bring up the old olive background that it was on.
I feel like I need to practice this one some more.

I think this one is pretty self explanatory - flowers were embossed with clr EP and cut out a second time and used dimensionals to add 3D.

This one also is pretty much self explanatory - except that I did use clr EP on just the bird and flowers, not on the stems at all. I also used pink stickles on both the bird and the flowers. The corners are made from a much older SU punch - my first year doing SU and the last yr they had these special corner punches ... I wish they would make more of these ... they make terrific frames.

Catching up ...

Hi everyone, I have had a few of you email me asking me about my latest cards ... sorry I haven't made a lot of cards lately, but do have about half a dozen to share with you. I am not going to give you details ... I think you can figure it out. Besides it has been about 2 months ago that these were made and believe me I have no clue what exactly I did.

I hope to be back into making some more cards starting in April ... I have been missing the time to make some. Come back the end of April and see if I have put any more up :) Thanks for stopping by and thanks to those who wanted to see some more cards up here ... will whip myself into shape and get busy :)

Let me start by telling you that these next 2 cards were my delight. Not because of the cards themselves, but the fun I had. A friend of mine's daughter ( I think turning 10) was having a bday party and wanted me to have the girls at the party have a card making party. So we did. There were about 8 or so girls and we had two tables and each table had an adult at the table. The girls had a lot of fun making the cards and I had a lot of fun showing them how to make them. I think that was one of my best card classes I have ever had :)

The cards below were made at my January card class ... these are the last ones I have made in awhile. I had both beginners and those who knew what they were doing so I had to have a little bit of basic cards and a bit more detailed ones.

December bday cards ...

There is a group of Christian ladies who meet once a month to celebrate bdays and enjoy fellowship, encouragment and prayer along with having a great meal. We usually always meet at this one ladies house ... to accomodate us all ... last night we had 14 ladies there, but I think our membership amount is like 20+. December is our heaviest month for bdays ... and so we had 8 ladies to celebrate. So I made 4 styles, 2 of each one. I hope they enjoyed getting them as much as I enjoyed making them.

Hi everyone, I pray that everyone had a great Christmas and that you are looking forward to a brand new year of card making ideas :) I know that I am.

Let me tell you a little about how most of the cards were made. I had bought that beautiful Christmas paper from SU and it was just sooo gorgeous and I remember reading on another blog how someone thought it was too beautiful to cut up ... I was feeling the same way. But seeing as how I am not a scrapbooker, I thought it was silly also to just leave it sit in my paper drawer and not use it ... sigh ... so I finaly convinced myself to use it. So, with that said, most of my cards were made by cutting out these beautiful parts of that paper and putting them on card stock in such a way to make them great cards. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

The card up above was actually a jpg from my card making software and is computer generated, but I glitzed it up with clear EP and with some stickles and some gold rhinestones. I used the stamp from SU Bells and Boughs.

October, November & December ...

Hi everyone!!! It has been quite a long time since I have been on ... life has been very busy. Not too busy to get cards made and/or have card classes, just too busy to take the time to get the pics taken, saved, resized and now finally uploaded :) I hope you enjoy them.

This first card really does have a story behind it. I found this style card in Card Maker magazine's May 2010 issue. I fell in love with the style ... and wanted so bad to make it as it was so beautiful. Unfortunately I didn't have anyone to make it for. About a month later, found out that my friend's daughter was getting married :) woo hoo ... guess who got this card :) I had so much fun making it. The first picture is how it looks all closed up ...

This next picture is what it looks like opened up ... and yes it closes to fit a 5.5x4.25 envelope :)

I am not going to give details as most of the items are from several different craft store, including the card stock as I bought it to go with the designer paper I also got at the craft store. As you can see, there are pearls, lace, flower, and my own home made clear winged butterfly. All of the rub ons all come from retired SU rub ons.

This next card is from the same design ... but with different card stock etc ... this was for our pastor's daughter's wedding. Again, all items except the rub ons are from several different craft stores. The rub ons are all from SU retired rub ons.

lol, I know, it has been a busy couple of months for weddings :) This next card I made for a friend whose friend's daughter was getting married - same gal I made the first wedding card for. We couldn't give them the same card, so I made this next one for her. It is also in the Card Maker magazine's May 2010 issue. I really like what I did much better than the card portayed in the magazine itself. Another friend has a relative getting married in December, and she really liked this card, so I made another one for her with just a few changes in the rhinestones (I forgot to take a picture of it :( )

Again, everything on here are all craft store items with exception of ribbon and words. Believe it or not, that ribbon must have come from a wrapped gift sometime in my life as it was in my bag of ribbons - plus the words are computer generated. The friend whose relative is getting married said this was great as the bridemaids colors were the same color as the ribbon ...now you can't get any better than that when you haven't a clue :)

A Campin' we shall go once again ...

Well, Phoenix general area was still in the 3 digit weather ... about 105 etc ... hubby has last vacation of the year ... we headed up north to The Rim ... left on Mon and came back Fri night. The highs ranged anywhere between 67 & 77 ... the lows ranged anywhere between 37 & 45 ... wow ... it was really nice. We enjoyed the cooler weather while we rode our quads/ATVs around the forested area. We didn't get up there until Mon after lunch therefore didn't really have time to ride ... but we rode Tues, Thur and Fri and had lots of fun. We take my 5 year old Lab with us all of the time. Matter of fact the day I brought her home (8 wks) I put her in my lap and sat on the quad with motor running ... and you don't dare go anywhere w/o her on the quad or she goes beserko :)

At any rate the 5 days we were camping, I made some cards as par ... will show the camping workshop one more time, just so that you didn't think that was a one time affair preveiously :)
This time around, I decided to take 'only' SU items I had that were in the current catalog items that I have ... which, lol, doesn't leave a lot of choices. I did pretty good with current color CS ... but started running into problems as I only had one set of dsp that was current. I also have some old corner punches of SU that I love to use, and couldn't ... and stamp sets ... I had 22 that were current ... but at least 5 sets were basically word sets. so, with that I ended up taking 17 stamp sets with me.

Work Table ... gets put up and taken down each time it is used.

My little so called TV table with all of my bling type stuff on it.

My 'other' SU stuff table ... it also gets taken down put away after each use.

And, of course on the floor are the current card stock and my current stamp sets

This is the overall view from the other side of our dining table.

My husband installed a light under the bed (which is up near the ceiling at the moment) ... so I can do my cards once it gets dark as well. The bed in on a motor that drops it down at normal level when you are ready to head to bed.

I just have to show you some pics of what it is like when Tressa, our Labrador rides with me ...

These pictures were taken up in Colorado back in July of this year (2010)

You will notice that in each picture she has on a harness, plus the straps going to the harness are the heavy duty velcro and heavy duty clips ... that way she won't jump out or fall out. She has enough play in it that she is able to move from side to side to look around. We bought what is called a drop down basket and we have a huge quilte in the bottom and her 'bed pillow' on top, which is what she lays on while we ride, so she is quite comfortable. I normally stop about every 2-3 hours to let her off and play ball, get a drink, have some treats etc. She absolutely loves it. She has been able to see wildlife from a distance ... cattle on the range, sheep grazing ... I know that is when she would really like to get down and off the quad :)

I wish this pictture didn't come out blurry and that part of her lip wasn't in her mouth :)

This is one of the better just head shots I have of her. We get more compliments on her as to what a beautiful labrador she is. Well, she can't help it ... both mom and dad are International show champions, and there wasn't a pup in the litter that was not show quality. I was blessed in knowing the lady from years ago when I was actually showing dogs as well.

In this picture, you can see the drop down basket quite well, you can see the quilt in the bottom of it and where her bed pillow sits on top. Of course there is hubby waving as I take the picture :)

Baby Shower Time ...

I was honored today to be able to go to a friend's daughter's baby shower. We had so much fun ... it has been too many years since I have been to one and it was so fun oohing and ahhing over all the cute things she got. What was even nicer is knowing ahead that she was going to have a little girl and there was soo much pink and frilly things for the little one. My understanding is that she is due in about 2 weeks.
One of the fun things we got to do is design a onesie for her. They had several white onesis and lots of stuff to iron on or sew on or color on with templates ... she received so many cute designs from this project ... real onesies ... not card ones :)

This is such a cute little baby buggy pattern ... I really enjoyed making it.

This pattern for a onesies outfit I also got from Lorri about 2 years ago,

and thought I would never use it :)

Inside the onesies is a little library type holder

that I put a gift card in.

This is my take on the diaper bag pattern ... all girlie to be sure :)

Here is the other side of the diaper bag ...

Inside the diaper bag I have not only the two cards, and 4 other

cards for the mom to use however ... but also a soft cuddly

poodle along with some Ghiradelli choclate as well.

I wrapped the candy in the same dsp and put It's a girl

on them as well ... I put them on either side of the diaper bag

where the bottles would go plus about 6 more inside.

I was running out of time, so I didn't get a pic of the candy

on side of diaper bag.

September starting out great ...

The card below was made for a very special friend of mine.

I have shown both the outside and the inside of the card.

It is a half fold card ... and the flowers in the picture are all

done with SU's versa mark and chalks

This western card I made for another friend's husband who is truly

a cowboy through and through. Though there is only one

stamp on this card ... when I was in the craft stores

and saw all of this stuff, I knew exactly for who.

After finishing the cards above the first week of September ... I woke

up this morning inspired and ready to go again. It must be that

cooler weather that Arizona is having right now ... 63 in the

morning ... Wow that gets me going:)

This morning when I got up I chose a card that I was going to

make ... but once I got started, mine don't look anything like the

card that inspired me. But what was interesting is as I thought about

what I was going to do, for some reason, I wanted to make 4 similar

but different card from the same design ... so that is what I did. :)

A Campin'/Cardmakin' we will go ...

Well, ladies ... there are several of you out there who publish the

pictures of the latest and usually the best changes to your

'craft room' and you share them with us all.

Well, I am going to do you one better. I have a craft room at

home, nothing fancy, but it is workable and doable ...

but my question is this:

How many of you have a workshop that you take with you on vacation?

My husband and I do a lot of quadding (ATVing) and we have two

quads, so our RV(toy-hauler) holds two of them back to back.

You can only do so much riding in any given day, much less in

10 days or more, so I started bringing bits and pieces of my SU card making stuff with me.

Hubby thought it was a grand idea if that is what I wanted to do to

keep me busy during the 'down' times. So, over the past two

years, I have been able to buy just the right amount and right size

of plastic boxes and lids (that stay on) that fit into our high shelves.

This has given me an opportunity to bring about 1/3 to a bit over

half of my supplies with me.

Our bed is on a motor and rises to the ceiling, so all that space in

the back is 'mine' :) Of course as evening rolls around, I have to

put things back into cabinets, but it doesn't take me any longer to

do that than it does to 'pick up' after myself at home.

If I am working on cards during the day w/o rain or wind, of course

the ramp is dropped down,(for those of you who don't know ...

that is the back, black wall you see) and I keep the screen down

and I get a lot of natural lighting to do my cards with.

On rainy days or if I am doing cards in the evening, hubby has put

in a real 'ceiling' light under the bed ( you can slightly see the glow

of it in this picture) and I can turn it on or off with a switch.

So I want to share with you my campin'/cardmakin' workshop!!!

DiKnight's Campin' Workshop

This is my craft table from home - am using it here for my 'work station' - as
you can see, I have most all of what I need right here ready to go.
You can't see it in this picture, but I have another small box that holds
everything in it that I may need to use at any given time:
ie, scissors, deminsionals, popsickle sticks, clear embossing ink, hole guide set,
stamp-a - ma -jig, blender pens, tweezers, tombo, two way glue stick etc ...
you get the picture. What I would use pretty much on a daily basis and can fit in there, its there.

On top of the little white table are all of my items needed for both my Cuttlebug
and my SU Big Shot.

Under the smaller white table we have all of my ink pads and a box full of odd
and ends that I may use, scrap paper, odd size ribbon etc.

This is my folding table and it holds just about everything I bring with me. My
arrangement changes from day to day as I don't always remember exactly
where I put things the day before, but you get the gist. One item
I don't have a picture of are my two large plastic envelope/folders that
hold my SU designer paper and my SU designer color series
paper (all 12x12 sheets)

This picture shows you where I keep the stamp sets and my card stock. They
are sitting under the table that folds in half. That folder holds 3 sheets of every
color I have in my file cabinets at home. When I get home I immediatly
replenish any card stock I use, so it is ready to go at all times.
lol, you can also see my dogs' toy box in the back left corner as well :)

Here is where my laptop sits and I usually have it turned towards me so that I
can check all of my folders where I have stored card ideas or challenges.
And of course if you look to the left, you will notice that all card makers have to
have their candy to keep them energized :) and seeing as how I am not
a chocolate lover, this is Lindorf's white cholcoate with their
creamy white chocolate filling.

Here, my friend and I are working on making cards together. She and her
husband went with us up to Silverton in their RV and she brought her
card making stuff and I think we spent 2 or 3 afternoons working on cards.

I was not aware of how many I had made, 'til we were
leaving. :)

I am going to start with this card (I made 11 while out camping ... but can only
show 7 of them as 4 are for my upcoming card class.) because it is
practically an exact CASE of Vicki Burdick ...
I have been wanting to use up my scraps from old DSP and so I went onto
SCS and typed in Georgia Peach and got some great ideas, but I liked
Vicki's so much so that I made several cards from her design. And may
make more depending on what scraps I have.

I've deffinetly come to the conclusion that as my sweet mother-in-love said to me once, that the older you get the faster time flies ... Well that sure defines my life right now. I feel that the 4th of July was just yesterday and already I am trying to play catch up before we go on vacation to Colorado. We will be gone 10 days. I have 4 cards to be made and sent out before we leave, and I will have 4 cards to make while on vacation. Yeah, when we go out camping (in our RV) I take a bunch of my stampin' stuff with me and usually at least every other day I make cards. On top of making these cards for friends ... Travis and I both had fun the end of May and the first of June, before he headed back up to Nevada, making cards, some just for fun.

This card was made for one of the challenges on SCS that said to use only black and white ...

I am not a 'just' black and white tye person, so the card per say did nothing for me, but ... I did likethe effect that the background got a bit smeared and gave it a shadow, which gave it depth.

I sort of CASEd this one from one of the very old SU cattys that I have ... at least the idea anyway. Sorry, don't have time to put in all the 'ingredients/recipe' to make this card, besides the paper I used is really old and retired as well :)

I came up with this design on my own for a graduation card for a friend's son who graduated from hs ...

Becuase most of the 'stickers' that I used had silver around them, I used a silver metallic paper as a

frame around the 3rd layer black. Stamp set is done in silver EP (SU)

nothing really fancy about the inside, but sentiments were what we wanted for him. Once again the sentiment stamp itself was done in silver ep (SU)

hmmm ... I don't think today was one of my more creative days ... this was the Color Challenge for today and the colors were just not coming together for me. I must have tried 3 different ways to work this and again, not one of my better cards. It is very plain and very easy ... lol, maybe I should put it under the Clean & Simple card challenge :) At any rate it is the CC271. The colors were to be So Saffron, Rich Razzleberry and Dusty Durango ... I had just a few pieces of the RR and the DD ... but not the ink ... so it limited me by quite a bit. I was able to use Really Rust ink in place of the DD ...

A Lazy Summer Day

Good evening everyone ... I am trying to get back into my card making mode ... soon my weeks will be freer and I want to keep busy with making cards. So, just to get myself started, I got onto SCS this morning and tried their TLC (Technique Lover's Challenge). This one was either to make a shadow box frame or to just make a framed picture of some sort. I made a few of these at Christmas and thought I would try again. It didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to, and I have some new ideas on this theme ... so check back as I plan to make a few more.

This particular card, I stamped the image very lightly on the Certainly Celery card stock and 'colored' it - then I stamped the same image with the Staz-on blk ink onto the clear acetate. You can't tell too well with this image, but the acetate is glued to the frame and the dimensionals are holding the frame away from the image on the card stock

Well, I can say that I had a most wonderous Mother's Day. MDH, Travis (37 yo son), my mom, my Mother-in-love, brother & sister-in-love all went to my oldest son, Schayne's house along with his GF Kelly and her most darling and cute little 2.5 yo son, Maddox and my granddaughter Zoie. All the guys planned the meal, cooked it up and served us. We had a great time watching the younger set go swimming as well.

This 'Easel' card, I made for my mom ... yep that is me as cutie 3 yo, and another of me a heck of a lot younger than I am now :) tee hee

As you take that first layer of the easel up ... I proceeded to type some sentiments all the way down ...

I used one of my wheel stamps for the 'arms', and then used Seasside Sketches for a stamp.

As you open the right arm, you still have a left arm sitting there. Again as you can see, I used the same wheel stamp on that arm as well. I chose the little girl from SU's Summer by the Sea stamp set.

This shows the whole card opened ... with each section with a sentiment for dear mom.

Again, I used the SU wheel for the inside of the 'arms'.

I made this card for my dear sweet Mother-in-love.

This next card I made from a greeting card software ... I printed card out and then proceeded to cut items out and then paste them on SU Whisper White Card stock. This was fun. I made this card for my oldest son's fiance to be's 2 yr old son.

All of the following cards, my youngest son, Travis (37 ) ... was home and decided for the first time to try his hand at making Easter cards as well. He came up with most of the ideas on his own, but used pictures from my greeting software to put into his designs.

This is probably my second favorite card ... now this one he actually used a craft knife to cut out the designer paper behind the pictures.

This card that Travis made is my favorite. I like the way he chose a pic and used it 3 times on the front of the card.

I thought they were pretty good considering it was a guy and his first try at it :) Everyone liked them.
The funniest part about all of this card making, we were so busy making everyone else cards that we both forgot to make each other cards :) hee hee

My DH is very much into black powder and goes to the Winter National Shoot every February, plus another seasonal shoot in October. The WNS is a big deal and lots of folks attend this. This is organized by the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. I will have to brag on my DH as he won't :) ... but he has some of the highest scores in blk pdr. He has brought home more trophies and ribbons and has set some record shooting scores. Yep that's him in his home made outfit ... he sewed it himself :) All very era oriented.

Today I sat down and did the Sunday Featured Stamper Challenge from SCS.

Is this card not just beautiful? A very good friend of mine made this card. I was so ga ga over it. On the inside she has a Bible verse that is also done in the gold ... I asked her if I could share this gorgeous card ... I hope she makes some more so that I can share them here on my blog. She doesn't have her own blog and she is pretty busy so doesn't make a bunch of them like a lot of us do :)

Christmas Cards '09

Hi everyone,
Sorry it has taken so long to get these cards up ... but I was getting really frustrated with the way this blog was acting so put it off 'til I could think and figure out how to do this the way I wanted to.
Let me tell you up front that I am not going to give instructions or the detailed info on them. If you are curious about any of them ... email me and I will give you the details on them.
All of the card ... except the last four ... are 5x5s. Most all have acetate fronts on them.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.
I have yet to make new cards for the first of the year ... but I have several bdays coming up in Feb ... so I guess I had better get started making some new cards :)

This first card I made for MDH ... the whole 'cut out area' has an acetate front on it. You can usually tell this as I tried so hard to take pics w/o reflection and it got to be a bit hard to say the least :)

This next card, both the Christmas tree and the snow flakes are covered with acetate. All of the little silver balls on both the tree and the snowflakes are all on the outside of the acetate.

Once again, the cut out area is covered with acetate.

Center cut out area once again is covered with acetate ...

This card does not have acetate on it ... it was made for our son's GF's little 2 yr old boy.

This card is a bit different in that I stamped the angel on the acetate ... on the back side of it ... and it is covering the embossing design of a musical staff.

This card as the rest, the main stamp pic is covered with acetate, and the beautiful lettering and designs were from a sheet of fancy gold embellishments from a craft store.

Sorry this picture got our of order ... so we will go backwards first :)
This is the 'stationary' card kit design ... where you would normally have the stamp area, the tag area, note card area and a place to put a pen. But on this one I used the whole spacing so I could include 10 cards plus envelopes in it. I made this for a wonderful Christian lady that works with my husband at work.

This is the front of the box once the cover etc is in place.

The next three cards are regular Stamping size cards ... 5.5x4.25 ... no acetate on them ... I made these for my 3 granddaughters.

These last 4 cards are what I made to send out to friends and family ... no acetate on them. They also are regular size cards as well.

This card was made for a family whose mother, grandmother passed away on Mother's Day ... she was a godly woman and loved the Lord and her husband with all of her might along with her children and her grandchildren. She was in my first Precept class. This is the card I made for the family.

Granddaughters's Easter Cards

Though it is a week late for Easter ... I am having my 3 granddaughter's over this Sunday to celebrate Easter. They will be coming over after church. I not only have made the Easter cards for them ... but I also made Resurrection bookmarks as well as a liitle booklet that I put together telling them about God-creation-man's fall, God's plan of redemption, Christ's birth, His triumphant entrance on Palm Sunday, His death and His resurrection. It is 8 pages - double sided ... the same size as our quarter fold cards.

Wish I could put it all on here, but it would be a bit much to take all the pics and put on here. I will do a Power Point presentation with them on my big screen tv about what Easter is really about ... then they get their 'presents', then we will head out for some fun and ice cream.

I didn't buy them candy and baskets ... bought them each a book and some stickers plus a little top for jeans etc. I figure they had enough candy :)

I am not real happy with the lighting on the cards ... so I apolozie for that.

I chose March's card class as a theme to do a lot of Michelle Zindorf's technique of coloring the stamped image and then using a versa mark pen to go over, then to emboss the image.

Well, it looks like I am back once again. It has been a few weeks to say the least. I have been so busy I haven't had time to upload some of my latest cards.

This card is an intersting card ... I got my idea from a friend's blouse that was black and had red and white flowers all over it. Well when I first tried red on black that didn't work. So I ended up coloring all the flowers with H2Os ...

I made the card awhile back, but I have a freind who likes these types of cards, so I gave it to her as a thank you card.

Although this Butterfly card is absolutely nothing like Michelle Zindorf's (scroll down to her butterfly card) card that inspired me ... it still came out quite nice. I love the way Zindorf will use versa mark with any color inkpad along with clear EP for an outline mark, then after coloring a stamped image in ... she will go over it with a versa mark pen and clear EP.
I have been trying to go through some of my really old (3 years) DSP ... and so here is one that I used an a piece of old DSP

This is a card I did for my oldest son (38) ... this my very first 5 x7 card. I used the large scallp die from SU and also the Top Note die. I also used the large scallop die to cut out a transparency to go on top of the world designer paper. I also stamped the sail boat from Winds of Grace with staz-on onto a transparency and laid it on top of what I had already stamped on the card stock. I used distress ink on the Top Note.

Hi everyone ... I hope you had a nice transition from our short month of February into the winds of March. I know I did. We had our second card class of the year on the last day of Feb ... Sat the 28th. I don't know why, but my heart was set on butterflies ... so I themed the class as Layered Butterflies. We had several layers of paper ... but bascially the cards were on the easier side to make.

This first card is actually for the sketch Challenge #214 I got my idea from the gingerbread-gal ... I think she got me started on butterflies, so it is all her fault.

I made these Valentine Day cards for my 3 granddaughter's 4,5 &8 ... and until they get a bit older and appreciate a good home made card ... I fudged on them a bit and did the front basically as a computer generated card with stickles on them to jazz it up a bit :)

Wow, it is about time to get back into the swing of things. Our weSTAMP was on a break from all of our hard work :) hee hee. New Card Class - January

Well, you will keep reading about how I am trying to catch up ... I am almost there ... here are the cards that I had my class make in January.

This first card is what is known as a waterfall card. A good friend of mine came across this card on line and I thought what a great card to have the ladies make. As you pull on the ribbon at the bottom ... each of the top section flip up and exposes the stamped picture under it. One could put real pictures on them as well as the stamped images. You could also put greeting on the back of each flip up as well.

We only made the one card ... but you could also do the waterfall card sideways ... here is an example of the waterfall card going sideways. You do need to remember to reverse or turn your stamps the other way :) lol, I learned that the hard way.

This second card we made, I CASED from Tara from our weSTAMP group. I changed the colors around but other then that, it is close to being the same. You have to have a lot of strength in your hands or arms as you use the heart punch as it needs to go through two layers of CS. On the back of the front cover is clear acetate ... on the back of the back cover is a piece of designer paper that shows through the acetate.

Another Valentine Card we did:

What is different on this card is that I printed out on acetate in very fancy English writing the words Love & You ... they took almost all night to dry. Then the gals just had to put a dab of tape under them and you couldn't see the tape if you put it where most of the printing was.

I got the idea for this card when I visited Mandy625's site - She calls hers the floating monkey.

These card kits that I made, basically I have taken a design of the bday card I made and also made a calendar and a wish list for each as a gift. One of the things you might notice on this and the next set ... is the paper that they are laying on. I used printer paper to stamp the same designs onto and used it for wrapping paper for the gift sets with the card of course sitting on outside and a matching ribbon,

Once again ... notice the paper that the card kit is sitting on ... I stamped print paper with the same design that I was using and used it as wrapping paper.

On this card, the flash was too close and gives the green an orange tone that is not true.
I made the set below for one of the ladies in the Wed morning class at the church that I go to.
On the inside of the wish list and calendar are scripture verses we had covered in class.
This was a January birthday.

These are the stationery kits that I made for the ladies that came to my Precept Upon Precept class this last fall. It was sort of like a Christmas gift to each of them. I am finally finding time to get my pictures uploaded to the web. All of the stationery gifts are the same 'style' ... but I made each of them in the ladies favorite colors.

Christmas Greetings to one and all!

Hi everyone ... boy it sure gets busy this time of year doesn't it. It has been way too long since I have put anything up ... but, have at least stayed up with taking pictures :) So hopefully I will get all that is important up within the week. It won't all get up before the beginning of the year as I am going to visit my youngest son and do Christmas with he and his fiance ... so some of my Christmas cards etc may be uploaded after I get back.

Our weSTAMPers had our Christmas Party over at Lorri's house and had a grand time. Here are a few pictures of everyone having fun.

Terri Guymon made this incredible cake ... it was amazing. Not only did it taste delicious, but it looked just as attractive too. I had no idea that there were cake molds that looked like that. I thought it was truly gorgeous ... who would want to eat anything so beautiful?

Isn't this little basket that Lorri Heiling made for everyone just so cute?
She made the basket using the Scallop Envelope Die and Big Shot. She has the recipe posted on her blog HERE.

At the Christmas party we did what is called a Shoebox Swap for the bulk of the evening.A shoebox swap is when some gals ... in this case, 5 gals ... volunteered to create and prepare supplies for each gal in attendance (like a make and take). They put all the supplies needed for their project in a "shoebox" container, hence the name, Shoebox Swap.
Here are the projects that we made.

Tara made this make n take for us (the shoebox swap) ...this is such a cute Valentine Card. I may have to CASE this one for sure ... well at least from the one I made :) The neat part about this was me learning how to use acetate in/with a card. There is acetate behind the two hearts and it is just so cute. If you are like me and have no idea what acetate is ... it is that plastic like stuff one uses for doing overheads.

These two were made for us by Ginny. The top one is a treat box (filled with homemade toffee!) the bottom one is an altered box from Pier One and has a hot chocolate treat inside

This was Pam's make n take for us. I really liked this card as it taught me another way to use those 'templates' that are left after you punch out a design. Here we had the 'template' of a cut out heart ... and we took a wheel across it and when you remove the 'template' the design is left in a heart shape ... it was so neat and different to me and I really liked that idea.

This is Leah's make n take ... I love the look of water color, but have yet to 'buy' any paper to try it. That is one of my first to buy after the New Year. Never have tried it on my own and would like to give it a try.
The rubber stamp image was "spritzed" with water before stamping to give it a water color look to it.
This technique was featured in our Stampin' Success magazine this month!

This is Lorri's make n take ... this is a refrigerator magnet made out of a coaster.
See, how others can get your juices flowing. I use the coasters a lot for 3.5x3.5 calendars and never once thought about using them for pics on magnets for refrigerators :) What a great idea.
At each of our meetings we have a drawing for a door prize ... and the one who wins it, has to make the door prize for the next meeting. Here is the door prize made by Rachele ... it is so unique and so made for Christmas.
It is an advent calendar, which counts down the days before Christmas. It is made out of a muffin tin. The decorated circles that cover the holes are magnetic and that is how they adhere to the metal muffin tin. What a great idea! Nancy won this door prize. So we will see next month what Nancy makes as a door prize :)

Ooooh ... put your sun glasses on ... that Pixie Pink is bright! lol, again, a SCS color challenge that is out of my comfort zone. But I did combine the cc# 190 with SC #201 ... but seeing as how their were 4 layers and only 3 colors I added So Saffron. At least that kept me from going blind :)

Wedding Card
This is a wedding card I made for a friend of mine. I was very lucky in that another friend of mine had ordered the Top Note Bigz Die and it was back ordered, so when it came in and she came over to pick it up she asked if I had tried it and I said no ... she wanted to see how it worked ... so I got my Cuttlebug out and she told me to cut several of them ... which I did ... 4 in fact in different colors. So my first try was on this wedding card.

A Birthday Card
I was having one of those femail doldrum days ... and was trying to figure out what I could do to get myself out of the doldrums. Well, of course, what else but to make a card ... that would be fun. So off to SCS I go. I used the SCS SC#197 w/the SCS CC#191 ... which wasn't a perfect match as the SC called for 4 layers ... and the CC had only 3 colors, so I added one by going to SU color combo ... and pulled out elegant eggplant to go with.
I do have to tell you though, that the this particular CC was not in my comfort zone at all. I was having a real problem putting them together so that they looked good to me.
